Fith Book Review:

Betrayed PC and Kristen Cast:

After reading the first book in this series, I couldn’t wait to jump into Betrayed by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast. This is book number two in the continuing story of Zoey Redbird and the House of Night.

One month after entering the House of Night, Zoey Redbird thinks she has it all figured out. She has survived her first month as a fledgling and finally feels like she belongs. She has a new boyfriend, and she has been made the leader of the Dark Daughters - only the most elite group in school. After the mess Aphrodite made of the Dark Daughters, Zoey wants to bring respect to the organization. She wants the Dark Daughters and Sons to be about more than looks and popularity. By creating a Prefect Council, she is well on the way to achieving that goal.

But then something unimaginable happens: human students start dying. And not just any students, but kids Zoey knew from her past life. When the police come to the House of Night to question Zoey, a bad feeling starts to creep into her stomach. And Heath, her human ex-boyfriend, is STILL trying to get back together with her. She knows that because she has tasted his blood: he has Imprinted with her. This means there is a strong bond between them, a bond that is not easily broken.

When a death among the fledglings rocks the House of Night, Zoey is forced to take a closer look at all the weird things that have been happening. She is even getting a strange feeling about Neferet, the High Priestess and her mentor. Neferet is acting funny, not at all like a High Priestess should. It is up to Zoey and her friends to figure out what is happening at the House of Night.

When I read Marked, I was sure this series would be a hit. And I was extremely pleased that Betrayed, as a sequel, more than lives up to expectations. This book is progressively darker and more sinister than the first, with an underlying ominous current of tension that is brought out in the first few chapters and plays through the entire book. P.C. Cast and her daughter, Kristin, have created a world in which “darkness does not always equate to evil, just as light does not always bring good.” Their writing is simple and enthralling, leaving you wanting more - it is truly addictive. I, for one, cannot wait until the series continues with Chosen

fourth book review:

Stone cold: Robert Swindells.

a brief synopsis:
It is about a boy called link who is kicked out of his home by his moms partner, who drinks and is abusive towards him and his sister. He leaves for london with nothing more than his sleeping bag and some money. Link can not afford to pay for a place to stay so he ends up living on the streets where he meets his best friend ginger. The book is written from the point of view of two people, link and shelter (a man going round killing homeless people.) shelter kills ginger and link meets a girl and it is all going well until link is captured in shelters trap and gail (the girl he meets) makes a confession.

Review:
i think this is a great book for our age group, as we love stories that are gripping, but its hard to fund books like that, that arent to graphic, so i think swindells has done a brilliant job, making it interesting for most ages, but also informative. He also wrote in a dual narrative, which i think made me want to read more. 5/5 stars.

faveourite charcter:
Gail, she is a lovely girl that Link falls in love with, as the story goes on you love her even more, but at the end she could become a character you dont like when she reveals her big secret. But i still love her, i think most girls can relate to her as well as she acts, just like, a normal person.

extract.....
If you think sleeping rough's just a matter of finding a dry spot where the fuzz won't
move you on and getting your head down, you're wrong. Not your fault of course
- if you've never tried it you've no way of knowing what it's like, so what I thought
I'd do was sort of talk you through a typical night. That night in the Vaudeville alcove
won’t do, because there were two of us and it's worse if you're by yourself.

This is the sort of language that link uses, which makes the book relate to us more as it is in a type of language we 'ubderstand' i suppose.

My third review:

A House Of Night Series Novel: Marked
By P.C and Kristin Cast
"So the bad news was that I'd have to move into the House of Night, a private boarding school, known by all my friends as the vampyre finishing school, where i would spend the next four years gong through bizarre and unnameable physical changes, as well as a total and permanent life shake up, and that's only if the whole process didn't kill me. But the good news was that i wouldn't have to take the geometry test tomorrow."

A brief synopsis:
When zoey, a sixteen year old normal girl, is marked by the Tracker, she knows her old life is over. Now she has to leave her friends and family to join the House of Night school, where there's only one subject she needs to study: Vampyre 101. Of course, there's always a catch, and this one is nice and simple: If you fail you die...

Review:
I haven't finished the book yet, i am half way through, so from what i have read i think it is very cleverly written because it is very girly but it's still got things to do with vampires in it so it relates to most girls in one way or another. There are so may amazing characters, so the fact they are about the same age as me makes it really easy to relate too. 4/5 stars so far.....

my faveorite character:
Damien. what can i say, he's the only boy in the group, you could say or ask him anything, he just seems like a normal nice person, which i think makes this book easy to relate to and think about. I really hope that Damien does something amazing like save zoey redbird later on in the book.

extract:

"I blinked. had i smiled back at him? Ah, crap. I bet i hadn't. i bet i just sat there and stared like a moron and maybe even drooled. okey, well, i might not have drooled, but still. 'I dunno" instead of the sad truth, which didn't fool Damien at all."
This is how most of the book sounds, and this is why i love it, because its so girly and definitely keeps me reading.

My second review:

Justin Bieber - First step 2 forever: My story

" Every day i wake up and count my blessings. My fans have played such a large part in all of this and they help live my dreams every day. I'm excited to share just a little bit more of my world witht hem through this book. Between the behind-the-scenes pictures and the story i think this is going to be something they all enjoy. This is just another way for me to say thank you to my fans."

A quick synopsis......
This is an autobiography (yes it was written by him) that shows you how Justin went from being an unknown jem to a global superstar. Grew up an only child in Ontario, Canada, and had a natural talent for music; he was always singing around the house and taught himself to play drums (when he was just 3), guitar, piano and trumpet. He tells the reader how he entered a singing competition when he was 12 and although he didnt have any vocal coaching, came second! He then goes on to explain about when he posted homemade pop videos on YouTube  and his dreams coming true: the videos quickly became a word-of-mouth sensation, getting 10 million hits! you travbek through the months of waiting with him when suddenly Justin was spotted by music manager Scooter Braun who joined forces with Usher to sign  now-13-year-old Justin to Island Def Jam. And the rest is history!

This video shows how his life changed  so dramatically....

Review............
I think this book is well written, concidering the fact he is sixteen. Plus, even if you dont like him, i think it is very inspirational and encourages you to #neversaynever and that dreams do come true. Five out of five stars.

My favorite character.......

As this book is an autobiography and not fictional there arent really characters, and i would just be boring to say that it was justin wouldnt it? So i thought; if this book was fictional my favorite character would have to be scooter (Justin's manager) as he is like the hero that saves the day, or like the fairy godmother that makes his dreams come true. Also scooter plays aq key part in Justin's life story so far and without him there just wouldnt be a Justin Bieber.

extract..........

"The day I was born, March 1, 1994, Celine Dion was solid at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “The Power of Love.” Not a bad song to start your life on." This is a perfect example of the type of language used in this book, casual and ... teenage i suppose.

My review:

Fortune By Megan Cole

A brief outline of the plot.............................

Review............................................
This is a great girlie book and not many people read books all the way through because they get boring near the end, but this one i couldn't put down! It's so interesting and has everything that makes a great book in my opinion: boys, girls fighting, differences and love... If this book is made into a movie i would definitely go and see it. I give this book a four star as the ending was really predictable.

My favorite character..............
my favorite character is Raphael, he is an Italian boy who brad masters found singing on the road he has amazing melodies but can never seem to get the lyrics, this is how he clicks with one of the girls, i loved how in the beginning he is all mysterious with his green eyes and getting angry at her, then near the end he comes out and tells all i love him!

extract.......................
'"why the hell shouldn't i have botox? Its my face." Nineteen-year-old Madison Vanderbilt, ice-blonde hair cascading own her back, eyed her mother belligerently over the fifteen-foot breakfast bar.' This is a great opening line to the book, and it sums up Madison amazingly.
